The engine is different. The 101 has a 10hp and the "314" has a Briggs model 23D, which is 9hp. It has a smaller carb and different breather and ignition system. The power difference is minimal and the exterior dimensions of the engines are the same. The 101 may also have a little bit different clutch linkage and a white colored grill screen instead of black.

The simp 990314 has bushings in the output of the transmission, the 101 started the roller bearings, and I think the steering ratio changed. The 314 has a faster rate(quite nice) :D

That is not entirely correct; Simplicity started using the better wearing needle bearings on the axel tube starting with the Landlord 2210 and Sovereign 3112. All earlier versions of the B1, 101, etc used the wear prone and leaky over time bronze/oilite type bushings.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
