did a oil change yesterday and found a pice of metal in the oil. it had no issues of noises. it was just time for a oil change. i filled it ran it for a little bit and still no problems. today i removed engine and tore apart. i did not find anything were i can see were it came from the only thing i found was a few markes on the edge of the cam shaft lobes. but the middles looked good. any ideals were it came from lit looks like a piece of cotter pin to me.

do the ends of the two pieces look like they would go together... its probably not decipherable... if the ends were joined would they make a circle (washer or spacer) the diameter of the crankshaft or the cam?? hmmm.... yeah, beyond all recognition...

What engine did this come out of? In the case of a briggs the only things moving around in the crankcase would be the governor and the rod, aside from the cam and crank. My first thought was that it was an oil slinger, but it looks a wee bit small!
