P/n for Allis 716H ign. switch (not Simplicity!)

Need the part # for a new ignition switch for my 716H. Looked on Jacks, but even after entering the correct model # (1690211) their diagrams and part #'s revert to the Simplicity version (7016) and we know that the ignition switches are not the same.

Does anyone know the right number? Thanks!

I hear ya but I am pretty sure the Allis uses a different switch than the Simplicity due to the differences in the ignition systems.

I'll clean this one up really well with contact cleaner and test it with my meter. Still would like to get the part # but there isn't one on it.Thanks

I'm pretty sure your A/C has a Kohler in it with a coil ignition. If so, then you need part #1607280; it provides +12v to the coil in the start and run positions. The Briggs switch looks the same (part #178280); but doesn't provide the +12v and grounds the mag when the switch is off. This wiring diagram shows the connectivity in the different positions for the two types of switches:

There are letters by each terminal atleast most of them though and with that a replacement can be found easily. No sense in paying $45 for a part that can be had for less than $15..

Yeah, I cleaned it up and tested it, it's ok. I cleaned the female connector, and thought I had this charging problem solved... it was charging for a bit. Then I shut it down and by hand straightened the ammeter (it had gotten turned slightly) and all of a sudden no more charging. So I must have a loose wire under there. Will pull the ones I haven't already and clean them up. And test individually.

Ok finally found my issue... the connections on the back of the ammeter were dirty. Pulled it out, hit it with a wire brush and cleaned all the connectors and brass nuts. Working good now.

  • 11 months later...

Sorry for digging up an old thread but I thought it would be better than starting a new one since there is useful info here.I have a 716h with the k341 and have charging and ignition switch issues, does anyone know "for sure" what the ignition part number is? the only marking on my old switch that is legible is "G" lower right terminal if you have the 5th terminal at 12:00.

I believe it would be the same as a Simplicity 7012 as they were Kohler equipped. I think the # begins with 160 but I will check the books when I am home tonight.

The large frame manual is for repair only. Each tractor or series had a parts book published which contained the parts breakdowns.
