What is this for?

I picked up a snow blower for my SS from Josh this weekend. It's got a bar that sticks off the back of the hitch. It's not shown in the operator's manual, but it's shown in an "instruction sheet" on the Simp web site and is referred to as a "lift arm." When I mounted the snow blower last night, I didn't see exactly what this thing does other than just stick up under the tractor. (Admittedly, I didn't spend too much time pondering it, since I was freezing my tookus off and my fingers were frozen by the time I got the blower mounted).What, exactly, is it for? It's #4 in the first pic, and B in the second. Is it just a leg for the blower to sit on to raise it up when you drive up near the blower to attach it? That's my guess.

I'm thinking the same thing. My dad had a snowplow on his Tahoe that had a similar bar.

Chris, I think that is only needed when mounted on a Legacy. It attaches to the Legacy ladder frame...then the tractor's implement lift hooks to, and operates through, the ladder frame and the piece you have shown.

I wondered about that, but the top of the Instruction Sheet in the first pic says "For Sunstar". Maybe they just put that on there to confuse me?

The way I read that sheet, both top and bottom, it is for Sunstar attachments mounted on Legacy tractors.

I have never looked at either model, but I'm betting you need #4 for Legacy's and not for Sunstars

That's only used on the legacy it hooks up to the ladder subframe which hooks up to the tractor lift under the platform to raise and lower it.
