Electronic Ignition for a CCKB??

Recommended Posts

I can now report that this is a great mod for the Onan CCKB. Very easy to install, never has to be adjusted, timing is spot on. Can't ask for anything better.

I found this article on Smokstak describing an electronic ignition conversion for the ONAN CCK engine.

http://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73526

I am going to try it on a spare CCKB engine for a Powermax. Anyone on here have any experience with this conversion?

It sounds good because it uses a crankshaft sensor and completely does away with the point box.

The parts were used on Onan P220 and P218 engines in John Deere and Wheel Horse tractors as well as others.

I would like to hear from anyone who may have tried this.

Thanks,

John U

John, I have also seen others do this electronic ignition mod/conversion on the CCK family of engines and it sounds like the way to go. Would you remove the points box and use/make a blind cover plate w/gasket to complete the conversion thereof?
