At the end of the year, we will have a separate contest of the previous winners for Tractor of the Year, with a bigger prize.(prize should be specified if it is to be mentioned at all- and probably should be something along the lines of being on display for a year somewhere in the club -just a suggestion)

8. This contest is open for members to enter their own tractors, or by having someone else nominating them, upon which owner must accept and post entry.

I'd like to nominate my 1965 squire 10 w/factory hydrolift. I haven't seen another gold tank hydrolift on a squire yet. I've also added Carlisle super lugs 16-6.50-8's up front on b12 wheels 23-10.50's out back and front end loader rear wheel spacers on the back also. It is pretty much solely used for tilling and the front weight kit and front wheel weights sure help a lot. I added a 10" drive pulley to really slow it down as well. Always runs great and starts right up. I also have the original gold 42" deck and the original gold 32" gold tiller too.

Thanks for the nod Ray! And thanks again to Perry for parting with it so I could take on the project. I had a lot of fun with it last year, and tugged it to a few shows. Folks get a confused look on their faces when they see the 'Wards' badging and lots of questions follow. They are neat conversation pieces, and that bronze is my favorite color on the roundhoods.

I can't take much credit for this Squire 9. It was a collaboration by a few members and spear headed by Mr. Osenga him self. The story started with my search for a Gold Beauty and it has turned into a 4 Squire fleet, all created at the hands of Mr. Osenga. This one was more near and dear to my heart than just getting my hands on a 64 Squire. Bryan got with my Daughters to come up with a name for her and I couldn't have done a better job at naming her if I had ten years to think about it. This also started the trend in which the other three Squires were named. This, is Engine 44. Engine 44's namesake is derived from memorializing my Mother, who was a 911 Dispatcher for many, many years. Engine, obviously signifies a fire truck and 44 signifies my Mothers birth year. Since naming Engine 44, we now have Engine 16, named for the 16hp engine I donated to finish Bryans Squire 10, Engine 22, so named for Seth, Bryan's Son who is known as Mini-Zippo (1/2 of Engine 44) and the fourth, (and so far the last)Engine 28, which my Brother from another Mother, Badmoon was given last year by Bryan. The 28 is the number half way between Engine 44 and Engine 16. So, having laid out the cliffs notes on the story, on with the photos. Here, Engine 44 is finally home.....I provided the grill shell and inserts at this point.

The new Decals are Here!! The New Decals are Here!!!(Steve Martin flashback from the Jerk)

E442.jpg

Noticed something a little off with the safety decal seen above, so with Nate and Corey's help..........Problem averted!! Look closely....one of the decals is UP SIDE DOWN! Can you find it?

E444.jpg

Now what's next....Hmm....Decals, check, headlights, check...Ah..ENGINE!!!! I rebuilt this one about three years ago. .030 over, lapped valves, ground exhaust tappet, replaced points plunger, decked head .005 and of course, rebuilt the carb (later replaced bad float which turned into a sinker).

E443.jpg

Now a running machine, just the little details are left...painted up a nice lift arm, installed rear sleeve hitch (which will get painted this Spring if it ever gets here), something was still missing.....Enter Nate and Corey again!!!! My Saviors! Her name badge arrives!!

E445.jpg

Lets see that little gem a little closer!!

E446.jpg

Now THAT's more like it......But.....Something's still not right. Ah, I know....I'm gonna retire her!!! No, I don't mean mothballs....lol.New Skins and Hub Caps!! (Compliments of another beloved member, BiggieRat!!)

E447.jpg

Now it's time to strike a pose.....(New tri-bar fronts patiently waiting to be installed and paint for the wheels is also a Spring time project)

E448.jpg

Honorable mention goes to Mr. Osenga for building my Beautiful Squire 9 as a GIFT to me!! Grinchy for donating the brake/clutch rod, Tom Russel for the battery side cover, BiggieRat for the PHAT rear and front tires, Bryan Bowman for donating one of his beautiful reproduction Mufflers to the build, Nate and Corey for the decals AND for helping correct decals to make it "just right" and for creating the Engine 44 decals along with Engine 16, 28 and 22's Grill decals, CJ55willys also donated to the cause with a beautiful set of stainless hood bolts!! If I'm forgetting anyone, please let me know...the old brain isn't what it used to be!
