Unhook you belt and with a charged battery jump the s/g ( the post with three wires)get it spinning while it spinning touch the pos jumper wire to the other post it should stop it.

If it stops it, your s/g is working.

I have 12volts with this test

The battery will not charge.

a. With the engine running at 1/2 or more throttle,

connect a voltmeter from the“A”terminal of the

starter generator to ground.

I have had cases where the battery will not charge when out of the tractor.

the charger cannot find a "reference voltage". In these cases, I hook another battery in parallel to the charger and and do both.

Other than that... Zippo has a YouTube on polarizing the V/R.

The other "straw to grab" is to check continuity through the ammeter. I have had meters go bad, in the past!

NEVER GROUND THE A TERMINAL.

Ground the F(field) terminal and the genny will putout it's max.

If this works for you, then the regulator is bad. remove the cover and check the contacts on the field coil. Bob

Then it's either a blown fuse or broken or loose wire, dirty connections and lastly a regulator problem.

id="quote">Today I brought my 7116 in after it sat all winter to look it over. After I charged up the battery, it wouldn't start. Ended up being a dirty connection on key switch. Go back to the basics.
