I am wondering if anyone has done a video or maybe a pictorial of bevel gear box removal/ repair/replacement . I have 2 dead tractors that I want to harvest parts from. A 7013 and a 3416h. I have an Agco Allis 917 that needs bgb repaired or replaced with known good one. Seems like quite an undertaking. I've seen some text on the procedure but sometimes pictures are worth a 1000 words. Any help would be appreciated.

There are several pictorials pertaining to the BGB in the archives that I recall seeing. The removal is not as bad as you would think with the weight of the rear axle being one of the main factors in getting the job done safely. I have removed a rear portion of a 7116 several years back and after disconnecting the linkage, it was only 4 bolts that held the tractor to the rear drive portion.

If you type BGB into the search portion at the top right of this page, you will find several different links that pertains to bgb removal and rebuild.

I am sure that other members will do a better job then I can in guiding you to the right posts.

Best of luck with your project.id="size1">

I have done one. I used the factory service manual and it went pretty smoothly. There are some threads with step by step pictures as well. jh

I used to be able to extract a gear box in just under 20 minutes with all the tools laid out and using impact and air ratchets. Got 2 tractor chasis to get practiced on again.

Remove seat deck

Remove drive shaft and yoke

Disconnect control rods and any wiring to the transmission

Put props under footrests(rbt) to support front half of tractor

Remove 4 bolts under frame around bgb input shaft

Roll transmission away from front half of tractor

Remove cone clutch

Remove drive belt from drive pulley then remove tranny drive pully

Remove short tranny plate(on hydros you need to remove drive clutch arm, which means removing fan shroud as well I think)

Remove bgb from the other side tranny plate

My routine anyhow for extraction

Havnt rebuilt a gear box in a long time as I usually have several laying around for swapping out. I just followed the repair manual when rebuilding one. Usually if they have have gone long enough to have a wobbly input shaft there is damage to the cast case as well. I have also found that 3 out of 5 times that the input shaft is shot from excessive wear where it rides on the needle bearing.

You could check you tube out and see whats on there. I know guys like Zippo have put up different how to vidoes on tract wrenching.
