I've rebuilt the carb, new air cleaner, checked spark and gap, it's getting an even flow of fuel from the tank, shot the carb full of cleaner just to double check, and seafoamed the tank. what am I forgetting? At full throttle it runs like a dream

Sorry Lucas the subject is not repeated when you click in "read more".

Mis firing is either a valve and/or ignition timing issue. A 12.5 as a twin cylinder engine, makes the diagnosis more difficult. II have no experience with the 12.5 engine, however there are members on this site who have.

Just hang in there, and they will jump in with some help/ideas!

Best Luck,

It isnt so much misfiring, but missing period, not firing on one cylinder all the time, every other stroke it will.

Pull right side spark plug, it will run on just the left side. Pull the left side, it wont run on the right side by itself. Gets great spark on left side. Right side is erratic almost constant. Im thinking its in the coil, what are you all thinking?

pulled the coil and hit it the ends with 400 grit paper, aswell as the fly wheel. the missing is nearly gone, little more adjusting to do and I think I'll have it. does anybody have the gap settings for this engine?

Posted

Spark plug gap is .030" and armature gap is .010-.014".

I had a similar issue with a Magnum twin. It needed a new plug, even though the one was already new.

Pulled the plug out of my b/s pressure washer, didn't make any difference
