Simplicity 725 mid pto adjustment for mower deck.

Having a hard time adjusting. I can get the tension on the belt ok by sliding the ajuster collar & spring to about 1" gap, but the lever won't lock keeps flipping back to disengage. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tim

The rod seems kind of worn & the hole in the bracket that the rod slides through too. Tried to bend the rod seemed a little better but not enough. Maybe I'll try bending the rod in a different spot.

No luck bending the rod. Any ideas?

You have to get the adjustment set so that with it engaged, the handle goes down a bit past center, so the spring tension holds it engaged.

It kinda locks itself in.

On some I have had to bend the rod, so that it dips a little, but it should be straight I think.

Thanks Dan. I straightened the rod & it seemed a lot better. The lever with the knob seems to go past center. I have about an inch between the locking collar & bracket for the spring tension. I had it set & thought it was good, until I started the tractor & the vibrations made it slowly flip forward & disengage.sm00 I slowly tightened the 2 nuts on the pivot lever to tighten the lever up & seems to hold now. If I tighten the nuts all the way I can't move the lever. I'll see how long it holds when I try to mow with it.

Update: Tried mowing with it & on the first pass halfway around the yard after 2 right turns it was barely blowing grass out the deck. The lever flipped forward some again.:(! Tried adjusting it & bending the rod different ways again. Kept flipping forward when I would run the tractor from the vibrations. Tried adjusting again & noticed the lever would hit on the steering arm when engaged. That explains after a right turn it would hit & disengage the pto. Don't know why I didn't see that before.:I Rapped the steering arm down with a hammer. Works great now. It adjusted just like Dan said. Thanks Dan. :)
