Talntedmrgreen Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Hey, I can't help the timing ^I had to wait a while, for a decent Uship deal to work out, but I was able to have a handfull of tractors and attachments brought home from the East Coast today. I'm pretty thrilled with all of them. Excellent collector condition. The T-16H has been on my list for a long, long time, and this one is real nice...even got a free boat seat with it The 3012 Simplicity is a real peach too...the deck, blower and dozer may have the least use of any I have had. The Porter Cable built Wards is very a rare bird, and any bronze Garden Mark is on my list, especially the scarcer models like this....glad to add this one. The date on the Briggs is April of '51...making it my oldest Briggs. Not real sure on what ...they are popular here, but I've never gotten the itch. Cute little devil. Great shape, and I think the Tec is original. I've heard the Wheel Horse is a '60 550 Suburban.
Brettw Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Is that Mom with her head down on the ladder? "Oh lord, not more tractors...........sigh......" 8D
GregB Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 The wife sighed then the son said, "whats the matter mommy?";) I'll help dad drive them into the garage One year I bought the Big Ten below for my wife as a Birthday present for "her".
arnoldir Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Hey Talntedmrgreen, The Gold tractor is MFD by Moto-Mower, who also did the porter cable, and the Lawn Master brand. I have 5 in my collection, along with a full set of factory manuals and tech updates in a 4" thick factory binder. They had a factory in Richmond Indiania, and a factory up in canada. I had never seen one wearing the gold Monty-Wards colors, so that is one rare bird.
Talntedmrgreen Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 The way I've understood the P/C M/W is that it was manufactured prior to Porter Cable selling their small engine & tiller division to the Moto-Mower division of Dura Corp. This tractor would have been produced the same, just under Porter Cable ownership. Do you know when Dura-Corp bought the small engine business from Porter Cable? I thought Porter Cable had been making these under their own brand, and the Wards brand, for several years prior to Moto-Mower taking that over.
Marty-MN Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Last mothers day I got my wife a non running 3410H and a 3310V so this year I got her a 712H, 716H, 916H with out an engine, and a 3414 with a bad engine.
ngale65 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I love the Pic with your wife and her head buried in the ladder. Thank is my house to a T as well. awesome.
shovelhead Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Josh, All I can say is WOW! You have a great collection and stock. 8D
jsarro Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Josh, I don't know how you do it all, and keep it all straight. You must be an ace mechanic to be managing all your equipment.
Talntedmrgreen Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 Yeah...fluid changes are getting tiresome ;)Its become difficult to manage now...need to thin things a bit.
dhoadley Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I would need a hammock in your garage 'cause that's where I'd be sleepin'!^ Nice!

arnoldir Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Hey Talntedmrgreen, Your knowledge of the history on the porter cable / moto mower / Dura Corp may be deeper than mine. Next time I come across the box containing my M M binder I will check for dates. This binder is supposed to contain all the parts breakdowns, and technical updates for every MM model. Regards
Talntedmrgreen Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 I ran across the M/W Porter Cable when researching bronze, front engine Garden Mark tractors. It was probably a year before finding this one and my research ramped up again. It is my understanding that this design was originally produced by Porter Cable as the Mark I in their own brand. They rebranded some for Wards as the Garden Mark. I have no info on the Aristocrat name, but Wards did use that on other products as well, seemingly to denote a premium model or line. It was several years later that PC sold their small engine division to Dura-Corp and their Moto-Mower division took on the lawn and garden tractor design Porter Cable sold them.
PhanDad Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Great finds. And I agree, the Hommie is in excellent shape and has a spare deck also.
Talntedmrgreen Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 Welll...goos news! The 3012 & Homelite fired up with nothing but gas and a jump. They run nice too. Hoping to get a dry day so I can bath them and take a few rides. The Wheel Horse sold within an hour of listing.
fishnwiz Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 SweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeT Need I say more. I really like the odd ball stuff! VERY impressive. That pic of your workshop is perfect. Every time my girl whines that I have too many tractors all I have to do is point to the print / pic I made and hung up in my garage of Joshes garage! Works every time!
Talntedmrgreen Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 Glad I could help Mark! Should I post a pic of the other garage too?
yukon Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 you know josh i thought i was good at buying tractors but you make me look like a amature very nice collection.
fishnwiz Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 You win Josh....I admit it...I AM JEALOUS and not proud to say that!:I
Talntedmrgreen Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 I told my wife I was focusing on quality vs quantity, but quantity snuck back in! I was able to catch a break in the relentless rain, and took the 3012 and T-16H for test rides....goodness, these tractors both run and drive like new. I'm not kidding, washed up they will look restored. The 3012 is the first variable I've ever used that WORKS! Works great, too. very impressed. The T-16 has to have the fastest, most responsive Vickers I've had as well...best of all...no leaks!
