tacomac Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I broke the arbor that the drive pulley bolts to on the top of a 48 inch deck, the mfg no. is 990576. does anyone know where to find a replacement? thanks for your help. Mac
fishnwiz Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Check on ebay for part. There may be a member on the site that has a spare arbor. I am not sure if there is a difference between the 42" deck arbor or a 48" deck drive arbor?.
GrincheyOne Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Sorry Earl, but I sold my only remaining center arbor to "Bunky". The part# for the arbor is 21085004SM. Your deck appears to be the older version with "keyed" arbors, the newer products have "spline" arbors. It is available on Partstree @ $52. May I ask, The only "break" I can imagine is you sheared the threaded end portion by over torquing* the top jam nut. Am I correct? wayne Torque spec for a 3/4-16 nut = not to exceed 180 foot pounds!!

What the difference might be IDK, perhaps the length(?).
fishnwiz Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Wayne The reason I asked is I thought I might have one for the 42" deck. You are correct, The length would be different due to a deeper deck.
tacomac Posted May 16, 2014 Author Posted May 16, 2014 Thanks for everyones help. I was mowing through corn husk that had blown in the ditch and the arbor broke where the setscrew tightens to the key. It took a big chunk out of it. I'm thinking it must have been loose. I took the deck off another tractor I have which needs a coil due to the end of the muffler blowing off and I kept mowing, which than melted the coil. I need to do a lot of repairs. The arbor has a keyway in it and the pulley bolts on with three bolts. would Sandy Lake have that arbor? Earl
