Cone Clutch Question

Recommended Posts

cschmidt62

I have a Allis 918 which the cone cluch is acting up on. The leather lining seams to be ok but the mower deck wants to slow down when I get in the heavier grass. It's not a belt issue as I have always used the correct Simplicity belt. Where do I start to look?

If the pulleys are not rubbing from being maladjusted and the spindles all turn freely then it is the cone clutch... Disconnect the deck drive belt and check it. I have had this issue myself. Once it starts slipping, its not long for this world... I am asuming you checked the obvious and making sure the pivot is free to engauge...:D
