Will the cone clutch from say, a 7117 bolt onto a 1964 Allis BGB replacing the idler clutch pulley for the mid-pto, same 7/8 th bore ?

You would have to do quite a bit of backyard engineering for that to work.

Good thing i checked, many thanks.

Looking at mechanical disk clutch for the mid-mount PTO, also for rear mount attachment.

I had an LL with an electric clutch on the BGB once...that was a slick setup. It also had an electric clutch up front for a blower and a 16hp Briggs. It was an unstoppable machine.

Im thinking the same set up as you stated Josh, im coming up dry for mechanical disk or cone type clutches which i prefer over the electric.

Gear box shafts are different diameter. You would have to swap the newer gear box that the cone clutch came on into the 64. Then you would have to cut the "U" shaped bracket off the newer tractor frame that the engament swing bolts to and weld it onto the 64 tranny frame plate(which you would have to get creative about the way the older gear drive plates are shaped). Then you would have to build a engagement lever and rod like done in the topics "variable to hydro 1 and 2" in the do it yourself section on simpletractors here:

Variable to Hydro #1 - Do It Yourself - Simple trACtors

Variable to Hydro #2 - Do It Yourself - Simple trACtors

After that you would have to rig up a belt drive and tension system to the lower pulley on the center pto, as the lower assembly would be out of line with the cone clutch pulley once cone clutch is installed.

Cant say as to whether or not the seat deck would be in the way of the cone clutch or not, as I never put one on that style of a short frame hydro conversion. I left mine a old style PTO setup on that

project.
