Build or buy front and rear hitch?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought an old B-112 with the intentions to use it for pulling my boat in and out of my garage. My boat is not huge, but combined with the tow vehicle, it's big enough to make it impossible to back around a 90 degree turn needed to get it out.

I was planning to fabricate a front and rear hitch setup with a receiver in it so I can swap out accessories pretty easily.

Has anyone done this, and can anyone share pictures of what they created? Or was this something that may have existed originally that I just don't know about?

Any help and/or suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up! Will those work on my B112?

Being new to these machines, I know nothing about interchangeability.

Thanks!

Yes, it will fit yours. Pretty much every attachment will interchange between all the "foot draggers" (FDT) or early large frame tractors with foot pads rather than running boards.

Allis Chalmers B1, B10, Big Ten, b12, B110, B112, B210, B212,

Montgomery Wards Garden Mark Squire, Squire 9, Squire 10

And probably a couple more I missed. ;)

As well as with different hitches some will even fit later "RBT" large frame tractors with running boards.

Rays has been fabbing up some as well.

He had a rear only hitch that I had him add a 2" receiver to, I like it.

As Tim said...Ray does some awesome fabrication...not sure if he is still making these or not. dOd

Interesting. Does anyone have any pictures?

I still have several left. Sent you a private message with a picture. Plan on doing some rear hitches and front - rear hitch combos in the near future with 2-1/2" receiver tube so that ball heights can be more adjustable.

Looks very nice, thank you. One question- how high does the mount put the base of the hitch ball when installed on the front or the rear?

I have a sort of "drawbar" on the back of my B-112 that looks factory though it is too low to be of any use. I'm sure your mount would put it up higher but I'd like to see where so I can judge whether it would work for my boat....

Thanks again!

It is exact same as OEM hitch that was available.

I bought one of Ray's f/r ball hitch's and use it all the time. Fits like it's supposed to & is very well done.

I also have one of Ray's rear hitches, works very well and is strong.

FWIW, I bought a Brinly sleeve hitch and the RBT version of the rear hitch, made and sold by Ray and they are top notch! I highly recommend them!

These won't work on the HB's correct?

Posted

No, they will not. The Vickers brake drum is in the way and the OEM version of the hitch hits the Vickers as well.

Another nod for the 'Stoddard Hitch'...love mine. I also have an RBT variety from Ray. To be honest, I think the welds are better than those from Pt Washinton.

Ray do you make them for the HB's?

Posted

A front - rear combo will not work on a HB. It will hit the brake drum or cast transaxle on the right side. Can not remember which. They would have to be two separate hitches or just one for the rear.

Ray I'm happy to field test.
