mruta Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 So I found Zippos videos on YouTube tonight. I can see that I have several bad bushings in/on my new b-112. The idler pulley bearing and pivot bushings for the same appear to be shot. Also, I jacked up the front axle and can see that I have some slop in both king pins and the center axle pivot point. I am assuming, of course, that the center of the front axle has some sort of bushing in it. Seeing as how this machine will only be traveling at 1-3 mph, does it really make much difference to correct the front axle issues? This is one of the slowest vehicles I have owned, by the way. Thanks!
GrincheyOne Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Yes there is a bushing, around the 1/2" bolt, that finally goes through the front support block, which is not bushed, and subject to elongation. Also the shaft at the apex of the "wishbone" and the support angle it goes through do exhibit wear after time. All slop points. "IF IT ROTATES, IT WEARS" Remember these are the main support points for the front end. Wayne.
Talntedmrgreen Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Most folks simply ignore the wear and you can too, if you are ok with that, given the use your machine will see. I have rebuilt a couple by boring out larger holes and inserting replacable bronze bushings. I like that mod but only do it to machines Im overhauling and intend to keep. Drilling that steel can be a real bear depending on your equipment. If the juice aint worth the squeeze....
