I just had the axel tube seal replaced. When I was mowing and turning left at my times it doesn't unlock and wants to go straight. Any thoughts?

I have some thoughts. If you just paid to have the tube replaced, I would take it back to whomever replaced it and have them properly install the differential. Better yet, I would have them pick it up and drop it off, after it's repaired properly.

Putting the gear that mounts on the axle for the differential backwards will lock the differential.XX(

Thanks,

I'm going to call the dealer. It doesn't happen all the time but it sure tears up the lawn when it doesn't unlock!

Sounds like there are two problems. First is that the gear is on the shaft backward or has too many shim washers behind it.

Second would be that the collars on the axle are a little too loose and letting the axle move left and right, because that is the only way that I know of that will cause lock and unlock. The diff does limited slip, not lock/unlock.

Just called the dealer, need to bring it back on Friday. Tough time of year, still need to mow the grass and of course the 25 miles each way on the trailer.

I just heard from the dealer. They told me the differential was froze on the shaft? No charge for that, but they changed the brake because there was no material left (I have never used it since I got the machine) $54. Glad it's ready, pretty disappointed that it cost me anything plus another 25 miles. So an extra 100 miles plus the $54!C
