GrincheyOne Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I did not do such a fine detailed tutorial/recount of the repair on the spindle. In my experience it was a sheared blade bolt that led me to teardown the spindle, and thus decide it was a good time to replace questionable bearings with new. this is shown in the iteration though my topic. AS memory serves, The parts and process come back to mind. Again we have an overlap of technology and production changes in the generations Of course my experience was on the '88 36"deck from a 4212G. jjust trying to make time to complete the Idler pulley transplant from a '90 deck to the 36" deck, and the requisite nemerous adjustment to the belt stops, and pulley brakes. My repaired spindle puts the rest of the deck to shame, well maybe someday. I can't wait to try out the brand new Gator blades on the '88 deck. Now that I know both of the blade bolts are grade 8, and not whatever the PO used, and incapable of the required 50-70 foot pounds of torque. Again, the presentation of your 48" project is excellent. AC_B-1Novice Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 Thanks Wayne, I had hoped it would be a help to someone as I knew nothing about how to do it when the problem came up. Many guys here helped me along the way and the thanks can also go to them. larry
