my landlord 2110 3 speed sometimes will go into gear making a grinding noise but next time will shift alright. the clutch pulley is adjusted 11/16" between the locknuts & end of rod. the clutch pedal is all the way as far as it will go when I shift. any ideas?

Belt stops.

There is a guard on the front, or should be, that wraps around the pulley. Get it as close as you can to the belt without rubbing.

There should also be 2 stops on the rear pulley, that look like very heavy wire. Those should be about 1/8" to 1/4" from the pulley when the belt is tight.

When you push in the clutch, these keep the belt "round" so they don't drag and grab on the pulleys.

Also, rusty pulleys will grab too.

The guard I refer to is in your picture, circled. On the same side, the rear pulley, transmission drive pulley, should have 2 belt guides, similar to the one circled on the pto picture. These are what stops the belt and keeps it from dragging when you push in the clutch.

As Rokon said and pictured. You need a guard around rear pulley or a few or a few wire holders to hold the belt in place. Or it will rake gears! And front pulley needs them also.
