Brake band for 7116

Recommended Posts

qtown7116H

Is there any cross-compatibility for the brake band assembly for the 7100 versus other frame sizes? Part number is 1679354 and runs about $50 at the local Simp dealer...I'm looking for a cheaper alternative, like "used" from Ebay or CL...any help is greatly appreciated

I can check the diameter...the lining actually fell out whil I was cutting yesterday...saw it laying on the ground on a return pass. I did some checking around and it seems like folks have just replaced the lining? How would ya do that?

Many have used a good contact cement and leather belt for clutch linings.

If it works for a clutch, I would think it would also work for a brake.

I would reline, especially if you have a hydro, where the brake is rarely used, before I would spend big bux. And/or keep your eyes open on flea-bay. The do pop up once in a while.

Yeah, with the hydro I barely use the pedal anyway. Could I just cement the old lining back in place? It's still an 1/8th of an inch thick, just isn't attached to the band anymore...

Found an Ebay seller, looks like we might be good. Anyhow, in lookng at the list above, it shows my tractor (1691382) as a 7116 Hydro (ML). What's the (ML) stand for?
