RichB Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I am trying to figure out how to change the drive belt ie. the belt that goes from the motor to the hydro. It seems like I may have to dissassemble the tractor to change that belt. If anyone has experience with this and hiow to do this please let me know
RayS Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Can you download a parts manual or owners manual from JD or do they charge for them?
RayS Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Looks like the information is in this manual. If you have the same tractor. http://www.wfmfiles.com/download/manuals/TM1351%20(Apr-88).pdf
RichB Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 Well, I finally got a service man from a JD dealer to talk to me. He says I have to take the electric p.t.o. off and the steering column to get the belt off. What a deal. I don't like this mower!!!
RichB Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 Thanks Ray for you reply. BTW the link doesn't work.
Chris727 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 None of the 185 manuals are online through JD. They only have online owners books for the newest units and the traction drive belt is likely only covered in the service manual anyway. I'm not sure the steering has to come apart on that model but it does on many of the smaller models. There was a serial number break on those models, IIRC, where the belt configuration changed.
RayS Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Google john deere 185 hydro pdf manual. It is the first PDF file or use the link below. https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=john+deere+185+hydro+pdf+manual
RichB Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 Thanks for that link Ray. It has what I need. You guys are amazing!
