grayp Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I have a Simplicity 46" Sickle bar mower #990785. The What fits? page says it fits the 3410 to 3416 and the 7010 to 7016. Will this sickle fit other large frame RBT? As long as it has a cone clutch? Thanks
RayS Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Yes. 7100 through Sovereign 18. Would more than likely need a longer belt for the others.
Talntedmrgreen Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 And should you choose to go another route, I'd love to have that mower. ^
Chris727 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I attempted to mount my 7000 series sickle onto my 912. I found a rear attaching point for the support chain would have to be fabricated. I do not want to drill through the tractor frame so that makes it more complicated. I also think changes may be required for the cable pulley bracket.
RayS Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 What is a 3/8" hole in a steel frame going to hurt? It isn`t a piece of wood!
Chris727 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Ray, I never made the suggestion that the frame isn't strong enough for another hole. I just personally don't want to make permanent modifications to the tractor. No big deal.
grayp Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Thanks for the info. This allows me to broaden the tractor model search for a tractor for the sickle mower I have. Thanks again Paul
CarlH Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I added a length of angle iron bolted to the running boards to provide a mounting point for the chain. Only visible change was the two bolt heads on the running boards. If you use truss head bolts, it isn't really noticeable. You also need to drill a couple of holes in the frame to mount the cable lift bracket.
drbrian722 Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 FWIW the "factory" solution is this; Also, the holes to mount the lift cable pulley were already in the frame for all my 3400/7000 series.
CarlH Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Brian, unfortunately the holes for the cable lift pulley are not pre-drilled on the 7100/900 tractors.
drbrian722 Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Carl, that makes sense as I think the sickle bar was retired when the 7100/900 tractors were released. Good to know as I've toyed with the idea of mounting mine up to the Deutz 916.
