dav Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 deck rebuild time. I have 2 decks that use the 3 bolt arbors and one that uses the 6 bolt arbor. the 6 bolt has the worst shell but the blades spin freely. should I drill more holes in another shell to use the 6 bolt or put new bearings in the 3 bolts? when did Simplicity add the extra bolts? and why? the 6 bolt is a #1690252, the other decks no longer have tags but one is the original deck for my B-1
timflury Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 You don't need six bolts to hold in the arbors, three will do just fine. All my arbors have six holes in them, but there's only three holes in my decks. Truth is, the more holes you have in the deck, the higher are the chances of the deck cracking near the extra holes.
dhoadley Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I'm with Tim. If the holes line up, just mount up the 6-hole arbors with 3 bolts.
