garyosf 1 Posted August 7, 2014 I am going to switch from magneto to battery ignition on my 3416H. I already have my 3414S set up like this which I did not do at the time. My question is, do I have to get the wire from the magneto removed as it apparently rubbed through and broke off inside the shroud. I prefer not to have to remove the engine but was concerned that this wire would create a continuous ground if that is indeed a problem.
PhanDad 4,003 Posted August 7, 2014 Since you're abandoning the mag, there's no need to worry about the wire. The other end of the coil is already connected to ground. Here's the "howto" post: http://www.simpletractors.com/do_it/magneto_to_coil.htm
garyosf 1 Posted August 8, 2014 Thanks for the info. I needed the confirmation to fortify what I thought might be the case.
