I am not sure of what engine you have, but I had a 14 HP cast iron Briggs where the plunger failed inside the engine and one had to open up the engine to replace it. It was an easy decision to abandon the points and install a MegaFire. A Nova would work too.

Thanks guys. I have done the tear down in the past. Somewhere I saw where you drill the bushing , tap it to 1/4 ,use a bolt to pull the bushing out. you did not need to tear the engine apart. OR did I fall and hit my head and dream this?????

I, couldn't find what I was looking for SOOO, I took a drill to the bushing, then used a 1/4 tap, Then took a 1 inch 1/4 bolt and some large washers screwed into the bushing pulling it out. Worked great. Put in the new bushing with plunger installed and tapped it in with a long socket as a driver . Best of all----- you do not need to remove the engine.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
