20 hp Kawasaki engine oil

Whats the recommended oil weight for the 20 hp Kawasaki liquid cooled engine in the early Legacy tractors?, both for summer and winter?

I'd probably go 10W-30 summer and 5W-30 winter. I think if you don't let any oil run too long, you would be fine. The oil change is probably more important than the oil weight. Just my $.02. Dave

If you are using a good synthetic oil, there will be little or no difference in viscosity at operating temps between a 5w-30 and a 10w-30 oil. However, the 5w-30 oil will provide quicker lube during start-up and you can use it year around--------------which is nice if you don't run your tractors a lot. My tractors are lucky if they get 25 hrs of use each.

Sam,

I would think the oil spec would be on the dipstick cap with most modern engines and like cars have on their oil fill caps?
