Sovereign 48" deck height adjustment

Recommended Posts

Good evening all,

Perhaps I'm being thick headed, but I can't seem to adjust the height on 48" deck. Turning the height adjustment on either side, It will turn for about 1/2-1" of threaded travel then seems to stop and the deck height doesn't change. The bolts in the linkage allow the joints to move, but it feels like a mechanical bind rather than just stiff. On right side, the 1" travel equates to zero change in height or movement of the linkage? The adjustment handles lock up at both top and bottom of the 1" travel even if the deck is lifted off the ground.

On my 42" deck, its slightly different, but works as it should. What am I missing here?

Thanks, dazed and confused.

Make sure that the bolts that are all part of the bracket and assembly are not tightened down. The brackets have to move freely, without being sloppy. I say this, because when I put my deck at the maximum height, I snugged everything up so it wasn't going to move. In the fall when I have to lower it, I loosen the bolts up, which allows the adjusters to do their job. Some Never Seize, or lithium grease on the threads of the adjusters doesn't hurt either.

Lastly, check to make sure you are not at maximum adjustment already. Just looking at the travel of the brackets within the slots will tell you if you are already there.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
