Oil from breather tube

Recommended Posts

Well this will show my inexperience. My 17 hp twin on my 7117 just spit a massive amount of oil out of the breather tube that goes up into the breather. At a loss but is there a place I should look for a pressure release line clog? Any help?

Those breather assemblies are know to fail. The old style was a rubber mushroom type valve, and the new style is a metal reed type valve. Still available for about 25 bux. You can check and see if yours is still functional just by manual inspection. If it's good, and if your oil level is correct, you may have other issues such as a bad set of rings, etc. I would start with the breather assembly.

The flat twins are notorious for breather problems, checked there first.

I have also filled the crankcase with gas, changed oil and never found a problem with the fuel pump??. I have a shutoff valve on all my tractors.

I drug this tractor out of a field after sitting there for two years. It did not run but I took a chance. I joined this forum and can not believe how much help the members have been. I am about as mechanical as a clot but thanks to the guidance and advice from our members as each problem arrives someone has been there to help out. It was gas in the oil this time and once again I am back in the field. Thanks again guys. Gary

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
