Briggs and Straton 14hp engine

If memory serves, some time in the 70s Briggs and Stratton changed there biggest single cylinder engine from a 12 hp to a 14 hp. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these engines. I have a 14hp and it looks just like the 12hp engines. I know the only difference in a 3 and 3.5 Briggs engine is the carburetor. Didn't they also make the 10hp an 11hp? All theories or factual answers welcome. Tim

Tim, The 12 hp model 300,000 series engine is 30 cu in. bore is: 3.4375. The 14 hp model 320,000 series engine is 32 cu in. and has a bore size of 3.5625. The difference is minimal, 2 cu in. and on the outside they look identical. Hope this helps Regards, dlc

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
