Model W Differential Maintenance

Recommended Posts

shallowwatersailor

Last weekend I picked up a MW Power Trac which is the same as a Simplicity Model W. It has the Controlled Traction Differential. I was wondering if there is any maintenance that should or could be done on it. I wish that I could say that it seems to work but I haven't gotten to the Briggs 19. The PO left it with gas in it since last year without any additive. I got some GL-4 today for the transmission to change that next week.

Welcome to the club:) There is a grease fitting on the axle tube which lubricates the axle and differential. As far as I know that's about all you can do as "routine" maintenance. It might not hurt to remove the differential and install new axle keys at some point.
