620/720 Charging System

Recommended Posts

The charging system on my 620's CCKB engine failed when the flywheel magnets let go. I have been able to obtain a flywheel with good magnets but have not yet found a stator.

My brother has suggested replacing the charging system with a compact alternator such as one used on a Yanmar engine. It is apparently small enough that it could be fabricated to run off of the belt between the engine and the drive train.

Has anyone tried something like this?

Or does anyone have any ideas on refurbishing the CCKB's charging system?

I have put Toyota alternators on two of my Powermax's. In my opionion, it is the only way to go if the original charging system has problems. Onan electrical parts are very expensive, if you can find them.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
