dhoadley 1,835 Posted November 15, 2014 Not on a tractor but... Very small (3hp?) horzontal B&S on an old rototiller. Engine is red but pull cover is gold. ID# on cover is 92992 0542-01. Comes up empty on a search. Double checked for missing digits and thats really it. Any suggestions? Thanx, Dave
briggsetc 6 Posted November 15, 2014 Those numbers come up as a garden variety B & S vertical shaft around 3 HP from the 60s - 70s, probably later. Someone must have swapped air shrouds where the ID numbers are. The internal parts are usually the same from the horizontal to the vertical shaft engines of the same cubic inch which is 9 CI in your case. The CI is the first digit in your model number,92992. DanD 12 Posted November 15, 2014 Looks like it is a replacement cover on the engine. Just looked it up on Briggs site and shows a vertical engine. BLT 725 Posted November 15, 2014 There were 9 CID horizontal shaft engines built. Here is a model and type number. Type it in at the Briggs site and you might get a parts list to help you out. http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=briggs_and_stratton&mn=092232-0008-
