trouble ID-ing engine

Not on a tractor but...

Very small (3hp?) horzontal B&S on an old rototiller. Engine is red but pull cover is gold. ID# on cover is 92992 0542-01. Comes up empty on a search. Double checked for missing digits and thats really it. Any suggestions? Thanx, Dave

Those numbers come up as a garden variety B & S vertical shaft around 3 HP from the 60s - 70s, probably later. Someone must have swapped air shrouds where the ID numbers are. The internal parts are usually the same from the horizontal to the vertical shaft engines of the same cubic inch which is 9 CI in your case. The CI is the first digit in your model number,92992.
