Short story- I'm not getting spark on my new landlord 101 .the engine code is 243341- 0123-01 6512201. I cleaned the carb, tank, new fuel lines, filter and fuel shut off valve. good flow to carb. I can't get it to fire. Cleaned the points. Pulled wire to spark plug. no spark. I went to the local small engine shop and asked for a coil. They gave me a part # 398811. I thought the part # I needed was 298968. They said it will work. It has a spade terminal- and the spark plug wire only. I haven't pulled my engine yet , but which do I need ?

i'm going to stop by NAPA on the way home tomorrow and get a set of points and a condenser. I'll try that first.PO said it hadn't run in over 6 years. I will update then!

how did you clean the points?

I use a thin piece of pressed board (match book copver) 220 sandpaper, or a points file.

I had the same problem with my 23D last week. tried everything BUT clean the points. After cleaning the points I had a good spark.

298968 is the right coil number, anything else is the wrong part imo. I'm not familiar with the 398811 off hand but that may be for the magnetron ignition, which would work if you get the flywheel repolarized.
