B-1 wire

on the B-1/725 the wire between the breaker box and the magneto is encased in a spring.

it appears the spring is plated, maybe with nickel. it doesn't shine like chrome and does not seem to be paint.

can anyone tell me for sure what color that spring should be?

the insulation on the wire had disintegrated. the local electric motor shop gave me a high temp wire that fit inside the spring. but most of the spring is rusty so i'm trying to make it look right

It's definitely a natural metallic finish, I'm thinking zinc plating not nickel. Not enough shine for nickel IMO, now if this were a show piece then why not?

my wife and I spent 2 hours today trying to find the metal armor or shield for the wire with no luck.

when we got home, I spent another hour unraveling the shield and putting it on the new wire.

then I primed it and painted it with a galvanized paint.

then I found another wire, used but undamaged.

I keep telling myself that I need to clean and organize my work area.

someday....
