Was told by a friend of someone who has a 3416h he might sell. did these tractors all have the vickers hydro or did some come with the sundstrand hydro. Would like to hear some members opinions on this tractor. I'm aware of the vickers unit problem of leaking at the pintle shaft and the problems of not finding parts for this hydro. Would you walk away from this tractor if it was leaking there or if the price was low enough would you buy it and have it rebushed considering everything else was in good working order? thanks for everyones input. Bob

Seems to me it depends on the price and what you're looking for. I wouldn't be afraid of a vickers even if had a slight leak. Hydro oil isn't expensive. Now, if it had a severe leak, that's different story. Any machine can develop a problem. You could spend thousands on a late model only to blow an engine.

Hi Bob, This was the first tractor I got. Give 100 bucks for it and mowed 5 acres for 3 years with it, fill all the fluids before I started and parked it where the leak did not hurt anything. Have hauled it around a while when I moved. It currently is patiently waiting for some attention while I finish my 3112h ( it has the vickers also) It has the hydro lift option. The 3416h is a great tractor I only have a mower deck for each tractor. If it is what you want have at it. Enjoy ScottS

Bob, I personally wouldn't be afraid of the Vickers, if the price is right. I actually tried to locate one to use in my B-210, but they're few and far between, so I decided to go ahead and use the later Sundstrand, bypassing any parts availability problems. If the shaft leak is the only problem, it'll likely still give you years of service. Then, you could always put a Sundstrand in it, if you needed to... My 2 cents... Kent

I also own a 3416H w/ leaky vickers. I have tried various non-invasive surgeries on it. Some worked but only for a short period of time. I do think it is "smoother" than the Sunstrand. I'll probably breakdown and get it re-bushed in the near future to permanently stop the leak. Do a keyword search for "vickers" you'll be surprised.
