chad' i do some mowing on the side to support my "fever". i started out with a 7013s used it for 2 years then bought a new sovereign (great mower/ junk motor)went back to the good OLD one's. last year bought a big zero turn mower increased my productivity 3-fold (same amount of time mowing 3-times the profit)they are expensive but, pay for themselves in no time. i looked a 10-12 different ones and bought a LESCO Viper 23hp kawasaki 60" deck it will mow 10-12 mph a still get a good cut not a simplicity cut but, good non the less.will probably pick up one more customer then call it good. mowing is good money just remember to get paid what your worth.

Chad, Not really sure what you mean by custom mowing. Mowing for hire I suppose. If it were me, and just wanted something to mow with, I go to a few rental places and try to buy a used Scag or other zero turn mower with high ground speed so you could get in, get out and get paid. Most of the landscape and professional mowing folks I see around using scags. Brent

Chad, if you want to be the most efficient (thus make the most profit) from custom mowing; IMO you need to find one of the front mount mowers (Simplicity makes them), and the shorter the turning radius the better. As a mowing machine you cannot match the mowing speed (in acres per hour) with a tractor. If you find a used Simplicity front cut you will find that the mower deck is very similar to your 918 and you still get the quality of a Simplicity (striping) cut. Good Luck! Mike S.

Chad, I have VERY limited experience with these, but I think the used scags with about a roughly 42" front deck and stand on sulkey are in the $1000-$2000 range, but I may be wrong. I'm thinking of stopping and looking at the $500 7116H at the rental place again tomorrow and will look at what else he has and for how much if I go. Brent
