When it comes to round hood foot draggers, I think I know every nut and bolt, but when it comes to newer stuff, not so much (and yes, 1973 is "newer" stuff to me) :DAnyway, I just picked up a 3416H parts tractor. I was under the impression 3400 series used the Vickers Hydro. I was also under the impression the Vickers had the release lever on the back while the Sunstrand was the plate that pushed the 2 valves down on top.Sooo....did I buy somebody's project ???

I'm also not familiar with the hydro cylinders on these for hydro lift. I assumed they would mount similar to the electric lifts??? Is this A/C or another project???

It came with a pile of parts, so I think I got the remains of an unfinished project tractor.I KNOW what the orange parts are LOL

From what I can is that you have a HYBRID, but maybe could be savaged if you want. Some in that mess of parts, should be a BGB driven PTO.

Let's go with this for starts.

The only pto is a foot dragger type, and no cone clutch on the tractor. The guy still had "grandpa's" 7016 so some parts may have gone to repair that.

I'm thinking grandpa liked to build, there was a 3 speed out of an early Landlord, he said grandpa put a hydro in it so the 3 speed was extra

I thought about saving it, but it's missing too many parts (pto, cone clutch, rear lift, seat, light bulbs) and the gear box in the tractor is pretty loose.

Dan, definitely cobbled together. 3415 was not available with a hydro lift, to my knowledge. Armstrong or electric. And they all came with the Vickers. And I don't think they had an orange hood. Some of the very late 700 series I think had Sundstrands? But not pod lights on the hood?? Hey, it's still a tractor!:D

Is that an A/C hydraulic cylinder ? The only ones I have ever seen are on the foot draggers.

id="quote">They came out right, maybe a couple of years, after the 900/7100 and up series tractor were introduced and right up to the end of the Sovereign series.

It seems to me, been a while though, that late in the 3400 series that the Sundstrand came along and that the frame had provisions for either trans. The hydro lift did not come along until the 7100 series.

I would guess a Duetz Allis 900 series transmission and hydraulic lift parts(green paint and side mout tranny filter) mated to a 700 or 7000 series tractor frame(check model number on tag) with a 3400 series hood for kickers...

I have a 710 with a hydraulic lift out of a 916. It just has a hole drilled in the frame for the hydraulic lever. Works great! Also I had a 712H with the podded headlights that has a Sunstrand hydro. I have not seen a 700 series AC with a Vickers.

id="quote">Close, the frame is 3416H. The tag says 990871 The decals were taped off and hood painted orange. Inside the hood is white.Bill, in your straight down pic, the red "bushing" and curved bracket is I assume basically a neutral detent ? and across the top of that same pic springs inside a box shaped part is the dampening system ?He did away with all that, I bet it was jumpy. His home brew parts look good though, might have to be stashed away toward a future foot control hydro project....}:)

In that mess of parts , I see and oil cooler, and one of the of the transmissions and pumps in definitely a vickers.

id="quote">
id="quote">Yes one complete vickers minus left hub on the floor, and another vickers pump on the floor and the tank and cooler for that one are on the bench. Also, a good 3 speed complete, a good foot dragger bevel gear box, and misc. parts that came from each.

The red bushing is in the hydro pintle shaft/control assembly. It is rotated by the hydro lever via shaft and the "cage" with springs to dampen quick hydro lever movement. It's the cage that sometimes washers are added to so the control shaft will travel to full reverse.

Ok, I think the parts between the rod and the pivot are home made. Parts breakdown shows a coupler and another short rod back to the pivot shaft.

Maybe he was trying to get more or less travel at the pintle shaft ?

Looks like he attached the Vickers pintle lever to the Sundstrand pump. And your are correct, there is no tank or external cooler on a Sundstrand hydro.
