101 on Ebay

I'm curious why the 101 on Ebay brought $1000. How much of that is attributed to the 46" blade with counter and wheel weights? I've seen the weights around but haven't seen that type of blade yet. I've only been into simplicity about a year though. I'm also jealous of what it brought, lol.

The package brought $1,000 because that is, the very least, EXACTLY what it was worth to the bidders and seller at the time.

IMO, it brought that amount because it is a "collectible" and it was a complete package. While this may not have been from the original owner, the fact that it was a complete, package deal with the implements, accessories and manuals in original, well-maintained condition made it bring that amount.... At least with old cars, one that is in good, original condition is often worth more than one that has been "restored", especially if it is not a very high-quality, professional restoration. Further, if he had broken the package apart, it might have brought even more, so if someone had the money to spend, this was not that bad of a price for what appeared to be a nice tractor... This was a nice, complete package that would fit many people's needs. It has the advantage of if it is maintained like it has been, it will likely not go down any further in price.... Kinda like old pickup trucks -- if they aren't rusted out, and they're in good mechanical condition, they'll never depreciate past a given point... and may actually appreciate over time. In comparison, the new add-on Craftsman snowblower for their AYP-made products is about $1200.... I'd trust that Landlord 101 to still be working 10-15 years from now, with maintenance, of course -- I can't say that about the new Craftsman. They seem to have "terminal" problems with broken front ends, cracked frames, etc. if they are used hard. The OLD late '60s, early '70s Craftsman (like the Suburbans) were pretty good garden tractors... the new ones I'm not so sure of. My 2 cents....

I noticed that it it was a high price but as everyone here says and I believe is that if you have to have it cost is no object. However I did notice that the new owner is getting a older style 32" broodmoor snowblower. That is going to take some work to make it fit the tractor.
