MPH
Had to go to Fairbanks today, first trip with the van since it blew 4 1/2 gals of oil out before Christmas on a trip to Anchorage, had no reason to believe in the PRO-Long I run in it, but I would have needed and eye dropper to measure how much I used in 400 miles today, I'M A Believer..Anyway, dashing though one of them box stores up there I spotted and ole Bruce Springsteen tape I haven't heard in a LONG while so I blew 2.99 YEA, ROCK and ROLL. Question I have is where is Darlingtion country??800 miles from New York City, without seeing a cop. Born in the USA kinda jarded the cage..MPH

MPH: Just to show how "tractor-related" this is (and this is a stretch) I read that Steve Miller, whom I like, wrote a lot of his music from the seat of a farm tractor, when he worked on a farm in the summer, w/ his guitar. Must have been the music in the machinery, huh? I was late coming to Springsteen, but now really appreciate him, especially the older stuff I missed. I LOVE that one with the line that goes: "She's a high-steppin' Hemi with a four-on-the-floor..." and I'm not even a Chrysler man! Now, to the members at large, a question and a *gulp* suggestion: 1) What is the title of that song (with the Hemi) above, as I don't remember, and what album is it off of? (Ok, that's two questions) and; 2) Now that Martin's brought it up, I think it would be neat to get a sense of "who we are" via our individual tastes in music. I mean, if we didn't have an appreciation for some of the "arts," (like music, literature--that's for you, Dutch, etc...) we would get so excited about these tractors, especially the "old iron." So since MPH got us off to a start w/ Springsteen, who else digs a different song by "The Boss"? Or any other artist, for that matter? For the "record," (ha ha!) I'm a huge Led Zeppelin fan, and Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Bad Co., Urge Overkill, AC/DC, etc... as well as blues like Mr. Hooker and his brethren. Just my (newly-minted) two cronar.

MPH, I think a good many of us in the 40-50 age range are Steve Miller fans along with John Mellancamp, and Bruce Springsteen. They all seemed to sing of our younger years in small town working class families. By small town, I mean under say, pop.3000 and surrounded by country. I personally like the 70's and 80's rock along with some newer stuff. Doobie Brothers, Boston, Kansas, Styx, Pink Floyd, Rush, Blue Oyster Cult, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, Bon Jovi, etc. Lately I've been enjoying a Rush 2112 CD my mom gave me for Christmas. Great music to surf the Discussion board by. (We are the Priests of the Temples of Symplicity) Paul

Tired: Dutch MUST be a literature fan, (at least, using the term "literature" rather loosely to describe the "Doc Savage" novels)as he knew of them. I'm a pretty big reader myself, in addition to a number of technical journals, I read mostly science-based horror and sci-fi, although I dig Hemingway, Faulker, and many others. So I made a reference to this rather obscure literary superhero, and he immediately scanned a pic of Doc S. into the boards--check post # 18874 out. So I just assume if he's that familiar, he must be into literature. Well, Dutch, am I right? Peter Peter
