7100 series gas tank

Recommended Posts

Could someone please measure the diameter of the hole in the bottom of a 7100 series Simplicity gas tank? The hole that the bushing fits into. I need to repair a tank and do not have one handy to measure. Thanks in advance. Gary

1/2" it is. The hole had been enlarged to approx. 3/4" by someone in the past. I found an old black plastic discharge chute deflector from a push mower, drilled a 1/2" hole & epoxied to bottom of tank with JB weld epoxy. The epoxy says it can withstand gasoline and cures in one hour. I waited approx. 2 hours, pushed in the bushing and fitting, put gasoline in tank and it did not leak. Will check again tomorrow. Gary
