bigdog46 2 Posted April 12, 2015 Could someone please measure the diameter of the hole in the bottom of a 7100 series Simplicity gas tank? The hole that the bushing fits into. I need to repair a tank and do not have one handy to measure. Thanks in advance. Gary
hurleyii 227 Posted April 12, 2015 I don't have one off my tractor but it should be between 5/16" and 3/8" I would say from my memory.
MikeES 458 Posted April 12, 2015 The hole in the bottom of tank is 1/2" for the grommet and insert fitting.
bigdog46 2 Posted April 12, 2015 1/2" it is. The hole had been enlarged to approx. 3/4" by someone in the past. I found an old black plastic discharge chute deflector from a push mower, drilled a 1/2" hole & epoxied to bottom of tank with JB weld epoxy. The epoxy says it can withstand gasoline and cures in one hour. I waited approx. 2 hours, pushed in the bushing and fitting, put gasoline in tank and it did not leak. Will check again tomorrow.
