kohler compatibility

RedRock

I hsve a Kohler K181 that needs replacing. I can go look at one from a Wheel Horse. What do I need to check to see if it will work in place of my current engine, which I do not want to rebuild.

Thanks for any responses.

RedRock; I believe as long as the output shaft is same length and diameter and it is a K181 you should have no issues...Dave

A lot of Kohler engines had different configurations of oil pans. What type of machine are you needing to repower?

id="quote">Dave, talked to a Kohler tech online and he confirmed what you had sent, with the addition that the thickness or number of washers could be juggled. Thanks to your info i picked up the kohler yesterday...the guy was keeping it as a spare but decide he'd never wear out the one in his tractors...
