Broadmoor

I'm working on my SIl.s broadmoor. The starter gear is shot. I can't figure how to get the starter off. The engine is a vanguard v twin 16 hp model 303777. I don't think this is the original engine. I can't get the pinion gear on without moving the starter or the flywheel, Where do I go from here? The bottom of the starter is very close to the pan, maybe an inch and a half.

Don't know anything about that engine, but if it is not original, chances are that it is sitting too close to something to get it apart. You might have to take the mounting bolts out and raise the engine some? Or, pull the flywheel, which shouldn't be too hard if you have a puller for it.

Sorry I don't know more about your setup, best I can offer.

Steve
