Help with a Kohler

I need some help, I'm stumped. My K241 ran perfectly till I took the coil and condenser off to diagnose my K301, I put them back on my K241 and now it'll idle, but when I give it any throttle it acts like it floods itself out. The points are gapped .020 and have good blue spark, I put a new coil and condenser on, and a new plug gapped to .025. Nothing is helping the situation and I'm scratching my head. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As long as you put them back on right, the coil and condenser should not be an issue. Sounds like a fuel problem. Check the float and carb settings, and then the fuel flow. Good luck.

The negative side of the coil goes to the points. I guess I've never hooked up a coil backwards but I have to assume it would make a difference.

I was once told 99% of all carb problems were electrical in nature.

In my experience in converting the older B&S coil systems to external coil ignitions I found that the coil (auto trasformer) only flows whwn the "-" is switched. to do the reverse will throw the ignition out of timing!. Could also overheat and damage the coil.

I understand you have a k241 just so we are clear .

the manual I read (cant find off hand ) said ( and I wrote this down )

I just put a coil on my K301 so I just went through this .

k301 spark plug gap ...

magneto .025

battery .035 (thats a coil)

breakerless.035

if when you say coil you mean the magneto disregard this message .
