I just picked this up. I have wanted one of these for a long time and a deal came up nearby.

The deck is rough and the tractor is not running. Has an 8hp Kohler on it. I believe its a 1964. These early MF's were made by Dura Corp.

Sweet!! Nice tractor! You don't see many of them. I wouldn't mind having one myself!

Rare find there Chris!! Even came with the shields that are typically gone. I think I may have seen two, ever.

Thanks guys. This is the 3rd one I've seen in the STL area. I was supposed to get the first one as part of a buy out but it slipped away somehow. The second one was a runner and was for sale reasonably. For some reason I decided I better not look or I would buy it. When I heard about this one I just figured I had better go get it. Its now running OK. I need to put a muffler on it and change the 20 year old fluids. The deck does work and I cut a few passes but it needs work on the throttle linkages and controls. Also needs work on the mower lift.

Only seen 'em at shows but they're a sharp looker, Chris. Got that crude appearance sorta/kinda like the Magna-Trac but heavier?

How old is it? Who made it? Must be MF's first garden tractor? Must be what came before the model 7, 10 etc.?

id="quote">The executives were built by Dura Corp which also made Moto-Mower and the Porter-Cable garden tractors. I have not run the serial number yet but I believe this is a 1964 unit as its an early model 8E. Mid-production the 8E saw major changes with a different front axle, steering wheel, and foot rests. This has the early cast-iron foot rests. Massey's first garden tractor was the Executive 7 in 1963. In 1964 it was replaced by the 8E which was produced until sometime in 1966 when it was replaced by the more familiar MF10. Interestingly enough there was a European model which was called the "Elf" and was built by Gutbrod. It was the same size but built like a farm tractor with hydraulics, pressure lubed engine, etc. Those are very scarce.
