Guest Posted January 27, 2002 I have Worked for a automotive salvage yard for many years. A few years back a older gentalmen came in looking for a std steering box for His Allis Chamers. He had a front end loader on it and used it very hard.It was well worn so I took the down the casting numbers and told him I would look into It.It turned out to be a General Motors Vega. When he came back to get the std steering box He showed me a picture of his garden tractor It has been many years since then but I think it was a 600 or 700 series tractor.Thought this might help some club member.Brian
powermax_paul 1 Posted January 27, 2002 Brian, You're correct. The AC 616/620/720 and Simplicity 9020/4041/4040 Powermax tractors used a Vega steering gear. At least that's what I've heard several times. I've never had to replace any of mine, but that's the first place I'll look. Paul
