Tacey
I want to remove the auger from my Simplicity Model 1690169 36" snow thrower. I just got it two days ago & haven't hade time to order a parts list or owner's book. I want to clean & paint the auger, body & chute. I'm stuck on how to get the auger out. The chain drive's front (larger) gear, which is on the main shaft of which the auger shares, is on there pretty good. Do I need a special tool to pry it off? Thanks! ka9bxg
Maybe this exploded view will help you. Did you loosen or remove the set screw in the sprocket that tightens against the key? http://www.simpletractors.com/parts/snowthrowers/bodyrotor.jpg
Tacey
I had loosened that screw, Dutch. Now that I see what's going on in there, I'll 'talk' a little louder to that sprocket. Thanks for the help, Dutch. Tacey
