B-series Grills - Can Someone Email a Pic

Paul: I don't have a pic of a B-series grill but, (no offense to Kent and all you Allis folks...) after you "warm up" on the B-models, can you make me up one for a Simplicity 700, circa 1960? I have a big hole where the grill used to be. Peter

Thanks Guys, Ron, Thanks for the pic showing the shape of the grill material. How is the corrugated aluminum attached to the uprights? Screws? Marion, your description was very helpful as I needed to know the size/shape of the corrugation. I've seen the brochure but it doesn't show the shape or size of the holes and ridges. I guess I'm going to have to settle for a slightly different from original. My aluminum brake bends only at sharp corners, so it will have to be a zig-zag shape rather than a rounded corrugation. First I have to find the material. Peter, I'm not sure what your 700 grill should look like. Same as described above? Thanks Again, Paul

Paul, 3/8" hex head sheet metal screws, 2 per side into stamped sheet metal clip on nuts. As you can see from the pic's my grill is badly rusted. If you come up with an economical replacement I'd be interested in a copy. I'm building the B112 for the grand kids to pull so it won't be a classic restoration. Close will be just fine. Ron

Paul, I have a Big 10 and a B112. The Big 10 isa flat piece of perforated aluminum. The B112 is folded with sharp corners. Will snap pic's of both and e-mail them to you later today. Don't know if either is like the B207 grill. Ron

Your picture is at this site. Click on home page. Click on AC B series tractors. Click on B207 & B207E. Click on Sandy Lake Implement "brose the 207 series booklet". Nice picture of 207 showing grill. I have a B207 and a B208 although grills not good. When you look at picture the grill is full of round holes about 1/6 in in dia and the grill is shaped like "corrigated" barn siding. Itis bend every 1/2 inch at 45 degree with about 1/4 inch depth..

Ron, my B-112 at some rust on it so I buffed it good and painted it with crome paint, it'll be 2 yrs this spring and it still look good. Paul, is there any way you could lay a rod or pipe on your break to give you a rounded edge??MPH

If anyone finds a good replacement for these "wavy" ones like the 210s have, I'd like to have one -- mine is split right down the middle to the front PTO pulley. I have a piece of metal srewed into both sides, bridging it, and holding it together...

I need to make a grill for my B207. Can someone email me a closeup picture of a B-series grill? If it is simply a piece of perfed aluminum, and the corrugations are sharp cornered as opposed to rounded, I can probably make one up on my aluminum brake. Paul

MPH, My brake only does sharp bends in aluminum. It's a plain ordinary siding brake like used by aluminum siding contractors for wrapping wood trim with colored aluminum coil stock. I might be able to come up with a homemade brake using a couple of pieces of maple and a piano hinge. The Maple could be routed with a router to the correct radius of curvature. I'll think about it. Even thought the originals were made of steel, reproductions would be a lot easier out of aluminum. Any thoughts on material? Paul
