williamjordan 0 Posted January 29, 2002 Hello everyone, This is one of my latest ideas. I bought the tractor a few months ago from a fellow club member. In the deal, I also got an extra backend. My dad came up with the idea of making it a 4 wheel drive. I thought it would be neet to do something a little bit different. I had some flat bar that I bought lying around so I did some measuring and such. It went together pretty easy. I am going to get some sheet metal to make up the fenders. I want to make it look some what like a transport truck. Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.:) There are more pictures at the link. Thanks, William Jordan[A href='http://allischalmers.clanpages.com'][/a]

Kent 436 Posted January 29, 2002 That's cool! I suggest you look at the Kawasaki Mule or JD Gator for ideas. While you're at it, make it a hydraulic dump bed.... Are we going to get a "Do It Yourself" story on this one?[A href='http://kawasaki.com/uv/index.html'][/a]

John_RI 8 Posted January 29, 2002 Really nice job William. Do you have an intended use for it. Looks like you have a few more units back in the barn. Keep us posted with your progress. John(ri)
williamjordan 0 Posted January 29, 2002 I really didn't have any thought of what to do with it when I put it together.lol I just like making things, but now that I am thinking. What about rototilling? I would have lots of traction. Now all I have to do is find a rototiller:) The barn in the back is my shop that I rent from a guy in town. Its about two garage bays in size. At last count I had 8 allis chalmers in there and a couple Kubota's and one and only one JD:P Thanks, William Jordan P.S. Any help on the rototiller would be great:)

JonetteP 0 Posted January 29, 2002 Hi Wiliam, do you think you could sqeeze a Briggs v-twin under that hood?
Sandy 0 Posted January 29, 2002 Looks cool as a moose!! One question though. It looks like you've got a competely rigid frame there. How are you going to compensate for hills and other obstructions you happen to run over? It looks like if you get high-centered you'll also be stuck. I think I see where you've got it hooked up wth a belt to run both axles so it might be fine. Maybe if you run with hardly any air pressure in the rears it'll work. Nice set-up though. It looks like one of those Euclids for the mining operations. That, with a box full of salt and a spreader on the rear would be unbeatable for 4X4 plowing on a flat driveway. Maybe one of those contractors boxes the cement guys use to mix concrete would be about the right size to fit on there. Sandy

powermax_paul 1 Posted January 30, 2002 William, I like it! I also agree with geezer, you should put tracks on it for ice fishing! Paul
tbar1.1 0 Posted January 31, 2002 That is so cool! But I have a few questions. How easy is it to steer? Are you going to link the gear shift levers together andf if so how? As for the steering, I once put duels on a wheel horse and couldn't turn in the snow or on wet grass. Haven't tried front weight yet. Your concept really has merit, stay with it! powermax_paul 1 Posted January 31, 2002 Neat idea for sure. One question and that is if you put one axle in forward and the other in reverse couldn't you have your own tractor pull with just one tractor LOL. Hum I just wonder what a couple of old landlords would look like now U really got me thinking. Keep up the great work, >>->happyjack<-<<
yeoman 0 Posted February 3, 2002 This is a pretty cool idea. I would like to have seen it on a 707 or 717 because I like how they look better. This would work good for blowing snow.
