7790 throttle cable replacement/pre-heater control

Recommended Posts

The throttle cable for the 7790 has pulled free or broken at the control lever. When removing the cover to access this area, what precautions must I take to avoid compromising the mechanism that activates the pre-heater? I don't want my too often rip and snort to become an "Oh, oops" situation.

My 7790 was a serious oil burner (not diesel) when I bought it with 600 hours on it. When I took it apart to replace the rings (all it needed), I found lots of gunk in the intake manifold from the pre-heater. What a mess. I cleaned it out and have never used the pre-heater again. If it gets cold enough so it doesn't start quickly, I just squirt a small amount of ether into the air intake hose.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
